We're Joel and Samantha — a Doctor of Physiotherapy and a Clinical Psychologist, and the husband and wife team behind West Pacific Wellness Club.

Our careers have taken us from Guam and California through Stanford University's Human Performance Lab and Bond University — and eventually to the Gold Coast, where we now run our clinical practice inside Southport Doctors.

After more than a decade working closely with athletes, patients, and everyday people, we kept seeing the same pattern: people only asked for help after something had already broken down. An injury. A burnout. A flare-up that had been building for months.

WPWC is the platform we built to change that — to put clinical-quality thinking inside an app that anyone can use, before things reach breaking point.

It's guided by Inafa'maolek— a value from Joel's upbringing in Guam that means to make things better for one another, and to act in a way that strengthens the community as a whole.

Hi, I’m Joel — a registered physiotherapist with over a decade of experience helping people move better, recover stronger, and perform at their best.

I completed my Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University and hold a Bachelor of Kinesiology/Exercise Science from Cal State East Bay. I’ve worked across elite sports, private practice, and research — including time with the Stanford University Sports Medicine team, where I conducted original ACL injury research and supported NCAA Division 1 athletes across multiple sports.

I’ve led high-performance programs as Head Physio for Bond Rugby premier team, worked with the Brisbane Reds Academy pathway, and I have been treating combat athletes from rehab to fight camp inside a top-tier MMA facility.

Hi, I’m Samantha — a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience helping individuals navigate life’s emotional challenges with compassion, clarity, and depth.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at George Mason University (USA), followed by a Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) and a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at Bond University (Australia). I’m fully registered with AHPRA and endorsed to provide psychological services under Medicare.

My approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, with additional training in CBT, ACT, DBT, EFT, ISTDP, and mindfulness-based strategies. This allows me to tailor therapy to the unique needs of each individual, with an emphasis on emotional safety and long-term change.

A core part of my work is helping clients explore and understand their attachment patterns — the early relational templates that often shape how we respond to stress, relationships, and self-worth in adult life. By bringing awareness to these in-grained predictive models, we can begin to shift long-standing patterns that no longer serve us, creating space for more clarity, calm, and meaningful connection.

I’ve supported clients in both individual and group therapy settings, including PTSD and DBT programs in hospital environments. I also serve as a Board-Approved Supervisor, mentoring Provisional Psychologists and Clinical Registrars on their journey toward registration.

I work with clients aged 16 and over, offering a therapeutic space that is warm, non-judgmental, and tailored to your story. Together, we’ll work toward building emotional insight, developing regulation skills, and creating lasting change that supports a more grounded and fulfilling life.
